“WE SHALL PREPARE” – A Song for Advent by Michael Lynch
We have been singing this song for the past 10 years or so at our parish during the Advent season. It works well with both adult and children’s liturgies. . . The Piano figure that is used in the intro and interludes between verses is quite nicely done on the flute or violin.
I’ve had children do handbells on this piece. We’ve used the Suzuki Tone Chimes

On Sunday Dec. 25th 2011 we celebrate the Christmas Mass at Dawn. The Responsorial Psalm appointed for that day is Psalm 97 “A LIGHT WILL SHINE ON US TODAY” I arranged this Psalm setting with familiar music from the classic Christmas Carol “GESU BAMBINO”

On Sunday Dec. 24th 2011 we celebrate the Vigil of Christmas. The Responsorial Psalm appointed for that day is Psalm 89″Forever I Will Sing” The music for this Psalm is the same for the Fourth Sunday of Advent.

At the time I composed ‘THIS IS THE TIME” I asked my family to all write down those things that instantly came to mind whenever they thought about Christmas time and those thoughts formed the basis of this song. . .
